Introducing Yiwei

We are excited to introduce 2nd Year Civil Engineering Student – Yiwei Cheng. Yiwei is the #TeamASCEND Compliance Documentation Intern, she is super busy making sure the teams documentation complies with the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge regulations.

What is your role?
My duties include creating and maintaining a compliance documentation checklist to ensure all necessary documentation is prepared and submitted on time. I also perform other tasks helping the team.

What have you been working on recently?
I have been working on the Logistic Tasks for WSC. I have been reviewing camp roles and drafting the camp lunch menu and supply list. 

What would you like to get out of the Ascend Solar Car Project?
By participating in the ASCEND Solar Car Project, I hope to develop skills such as attention to detail, analysis, communication, and collaboration. I also aim to build professional relationships and potential opportunities for the future, while also gaining a fulfilling experience by contributing to a project that aims to promote sustainability. 

Why did you want to join the team?
I am interested in learning and developing skills including communication, problem-solving, and technical skills related to engineering. The team offers me a sense of community, as it has a great group of individuals who share a common goal and work collaboratively towards achieving it. 

What do you love about the team?
I love the leadership and positive work culture of the team. Our team lead Matt Jennings provides direction, inspiration, and guidance to the team members. His effective leadership helped the team contribute to a positive culture and good work environment. Being a part of such a project offers me a sense of purpose and satisfaction. 

What are you most looking forward to about taking part in the WSC?

I’m looking forward to meeting other international solar car teams and competing in the Challenge2
